What is Fabrican?

Fabrican is the creator of Spray-on Fabric

In 2000 Fabrican patented an instant, sprayable, non-woven fabric. From its base at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London, Fabrican technology has captured the imagination of designers, industry and the public around the world. The technology has been developed for use in household, industrial, personal and healthcare, decorative and fashion applications using aerosol cans or spray-guns, and will soon be found in products available everywhere.

The fabric is formed by the cross-linking of fibres, which adhere to one another,
to create an instant non-woven fabric that can be easily sprayed on to any surface.
Its properties can be tailored to meet the needs of each user.

패션의 세계는 끝이 없는것 같다.  다양한 소재를 가지고 아름다움을 창조하고 있다.  영화에서 보았던 투명인간의 마스크 제작에 사용했던 것처럼 이제는 3D 프린터를 통해 실제 모형을 복사해 내고 의상도 스프레이로 자유롭게 표현할수 있어 간편한 시대가 된것 같다.  물론 아직은 대중화 하기에는 위험성이 있는 패션인것같다.

참 기발 아이디어이며 다양한 방면으로 응용할수 있는 좋은 기술 분야인것 같다. 이미 보디 페인팅을 통해 깜쪽같이 우리의 시각을 착각하게 만들고 있다.  이제 스프레이 패브릭 의상이 대중화 된다면 어떤 현상들이 일어날까? 

이미 2013년 빅토리아 시크릿 패션쇼에서 현실화 되었다.
