[ Unreached People Group (UPG) ] or [ Least Reached People Group ] : an identifiable group of people distinguished by a distinct culture, language, or social class who lack a community of Christians able to evangelize the rest of the people group without outside help. The only opportunity for the people group to hear about salvation is through an “external witness.” Most missiologists consider 2% of the population becoming Christ followers as the “tipping point” at which the group is generally considered “reached” with the Gospel.
선교학자들은 복음이 들어가 그 종족이 2%의 인구가 그리스도를 따르는 자들이 되면 보통 reached(복음화)된 종족이라고 간주하다. (다른 말로 하면 그 종족이 2%미만의 기독교인구를 가지고 있다면 미전도종족으로 간주해야한다는 말이다)
It is estimated that of the 7.1 billion people alive in the world today, 2.91 billion of them live in unreached people groups with little or no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.(오늘날 세계에는 71억의 사람이 살고 있다고 추정한다. 그중 29억 1천만명이 예수 그리스도의 복음이 조금 혹은 전혀 접근하지 못한 미전도종족들이 살고 있다)
According to Joshua Project, there are approximately 16500 unique people groups in the world with about 6900 of them considered unreached.(죠수아 프로젝에 의하면, 16500 각 종족들이 세계에 있고 그들중 6900 종족들이 미전도 종족이라고 간주되고 있다) The vast majority (95%) of these least reached groups exist in the 10/40 window and less than 10% of missionary work is done among these people.(미전도 종족의 대다수 95%가 10/40 창문지역에 존재하고 있고 선교사 10%미만이 이 종족들을 위해 선교를 하고 있다)
[ Unengaged Unreached People Group (UUPG) ] : According to Finishing the Task, there are 440 unengaged, unreached people groups with populations over 25,000, together numbering over 24 million souls that are still beyond the reach of the Gospel. These 440 are perhaps the neediest of the needy as they are unengaged, which means that no church, no missionary, no mission agency…no one has yet taken responsibility to tell them about Jesus Christ.
Matthew 24:14: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.(ESV)”(이 천국 복음이 모든 민족에게 증언되기 위하여 온 세상에 전파되리니 그제야 끝이 오리라)
The Greek phrase for “all nations” is “panta ta ethne” which refers to all of the ethnicities or people groups of the world. We believe that Jesus was very clear in stating that His gospel would be preached to all nations/ ethne/ people groups before He would return. Therefore the simple, yet major goal of Global Frontier Missions is to assist in the preaching of the Good News to every people group in order to fulfill the words of Christ!
Revelation 7:9: “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,” (ESV)(이 일 후에 내가 보니 각 나라와 족속과 백성과 방언에서 아무도 능히 셀 수 없는 큰 무리가 나와 흰 옷을 입고 손에 종려 가지를 들고 보좌 앞과 어린 양 앞에 서서)
The apostle John gives us a glimpse of what worship in heaven will look like. The Bible has made it very clear that God will not be satisfied until there are people from every people group represented in His heaven.
Jesus gave us the Great Commission, telling us to go into “all the world and make disciples of all nations”(예수님은 우리에게 지상 명령(대 위임령)을 주시면서 말씀하시기를, "세상으로 가서 모든 민족을 제자삼으라". And when we accomplish this task, then He will return! 오상훈 선교사의 뷰
한 선교사로서 미전도 종족을 바라볼때 마다 가슴이 저려옵니다. 많은 선교사들(90%)이 이미 복음이 들어간곳에서 사역을 하고 있으며 오직 10%이하의 선교사들이 전혀 복음을 듣지 못한 미전도 종족들에게 복음을 전하고 있다는 소식에 늘 기도하며 중보하고 있습니다.
저는 필리핀에서 18년째 선교사역을 하면서 많은 선교 사역을 배웠습니다. 많은 현지 교회를 세우고 도우며 지금도 사역을 하고 있습니다. 그러나 지난 18년 동안 선교사로서의 삶을 살아오면서 아직도 한국교회의 선교에 대한 열정은 있는데 어떻게 선교를 해야 하는지? 어떻게 후원을 해야 하는지? 에 대한 선교에 대한 바른 선교관과 선교 정책들이 없음으로 중복투자와 보여주는 선교, 교회 성장의 하나로 선교를 사용하는 교회의 선교 정책이 되다보니 효과적인 선교를 할수가 없었다고 봅니다. 여기에는 현역 선교사들이 바로 선교의 방향을 잡아주지 못한 부분도 있을 수가 있고 한국의 선교 정책을 이끌어가는 선교 단체장님들의 바른 선교 정책 제시가 필요하다고 봅니다. 그래서 선교 12년차에 제 2의 선교 사역의 방향을 찾으려고 안식년을 신청하고 한국에서 1년 안식을 하면서 제2의 목회아니면 선교 방향을 구상하려고 했습니다. 그러나 하나님께서는 저의 선교사 비자 연장 신청을 했었는데 비자 서류를 당시에 찾을 수가 없다는 바기오 이민국과 본청 마닐라 이민국의 반응에 저의 안식년은 포기 할수 밖에 없었습니다. (또 몇년간 한국 방문을 하지 못하는 사연---)
후원을 받지못하는 능력없는 선교사는 아무리 어렵다고 외쳐도 후원자를 찾을 수가 없었고
인맥과 정치적 배경이 없이는 후원자를 찾기가 힘들다는 현실을 깨닫고 선교사인 제가 선교 정책을 바꾸고 있습니다.
이제는 선교지에서 자생하기 위해서 다른 사역들을 준비하고 있습니다.
선교지이지만 한인들이 있기에 한인 예배를 통해서 선교에 동원하고,
미션 스쿨(클락필드 크리스찬 스쿨: 후원이사가 없는 상황)을 통해 영어 캠프를 함으로 자립정책을 강구해야만 하는 선교 현실이었습니다.
물론 이 모든것이 쉬운 사역들이 아니었습니다. 그래도 최선을 다하며 아직도 미전도 종족들을 향한 선교의 꿈은 버리지 않고 이곳에서 현지인 사역자들 대상으로 제자훈련과 선교훈련을 시켜 필리핀의 교회 없는 부족뿐만아니라 미전도 종족들에 선교사를 파송할 계획과 안디옥 교회 처럼 선교지에서 한인 디아스포라를 중심으로 선교하는 교회를 만드는 것이
지금으로서는 최선이라고 생각하여 오늘 하루도 기도하며 비전을 향해 달려 가고 있습니다.
