‘라이커블 로컬’의 최고경영자이자 작가인 데이브 커펜은 몇 주전 성공한 사람들과 성공하지 못한 사람들의 차이가 일러스트로 꾸며진 엽서 한 장을 받았다고 비즈니스인사이더가 말했다. 이 엽서에는 두 부류의 사람들의 습관과 성향을 나열했으며 기업 경영인 모임의 회원인 앤디 베일리가 보낸 것이라고 했다. 앤디 베일리 또한 성공한 사업가 중 한 명으로 이 두 성공한 사람들이 주고받은 엽서의 내용 중 성공한 사람과 그렇지 못한 사람의 가장 큰 차이 5가지를 나열해 보았다.

1. 성공한 사람: 변화를 수용한다
성공하지 못한 사람: 변화를 두려워한다.

2. 성공한 사람: 아이디어를 말한다.
성공하지 못한 사람: 남에 대해 말한다.

3. 성공한 사람: 자신의 실패에 대해 책임을 질줄 안다.
성공하지 못한 사람: 실패를 남 탓으로 돌리고 타인을 질책한다.

4. 성공한 사람: 승리 혹은 성공의 공을 모두 타인에게 돌린다.
성공하지 못한 사람: 모든 공은 자신에게 있다고 하며 심지어 남의 공을 취할 때도 있다.

5. 성공한 사람: 남의 성공을 진심으로 바란다.
성공하지 못한 사람: 마음속으로 남이 실패하기를 바란다.

비즈니스인사이더가 덧붙인 성공한 사람과 그렇지 못한 사람들의 차이는 왠지 고개를 끄덕이게 했다. 성공한 사람은 기쁨이 흘러 넘치는 아우라를 뿜어내며 정보나 자료를 공유하고 매일 독서를 한다고 한다. 또한, 이들은 항상 배우기를 원한다고 말했다. 반면, 성공하지 못한 사람들은 화를 품고 그런 부정적인 분위기를 풍긴다고 한다. 또한, 정보와 자료를 축적하고 텔레비전을 매일 보며 모든 일을 직감으로 처리한다고 했다.
