9 easy ways to become a healthier, happier person

It’s easier than one might think to become a healthier and happier person. The Huffington Post revealed nine easy ways to become such a person.

1. Sleep enough
Health-obsessed people already know that sleep is a must-factor for healthiness. Sleep deprived people can have serious health issues. Sleep also controls “weight, moods, and even the immune system.” Set a bed time, for example 11 o’clock, and try to go to bed at that time in order not to become sleep deprived.

2. Understand the importance of emotional intelligence
Emotional intelligence refers to someone who is “confident, good at working towards goals, adaptable, a flexible person who can quickly recover form stress.” If you’re not born that way it’s still possible to become such a person by practicing and knowing your strengths and weaknesses.

3. Don’t be in a rush
There are some people who do everything fast -- eating, talking walking. But these people can’t see what’s around them because they are in such a hurry. Take some time and have a look around you and give yourself some little time to think about the gratefulness of your life.

4. Cut down on sugar
It’s okay to eat sweets from time to time but it will get nasty if you eat them every day. If it’s difficult to cut down on sugar start with little steps. For example, eliminating sugar from your coffee and mixing in milk instead.

5. Find exercise that suits you
It might be just a “misunderstanding” that you don’t like to exercise. Maybe you’re just not the running type. Maybe swimming or playing tennis suits you more. According to studies, it depends on “how much we end up eating whether we think of fitness as ‘fun’ or ‘exercise.’” So go outside (or stay inside) and find some exercise that you actually enjoy.

6. Know when it’s time to put down your cellphone
There are times for social media and texting and there are times where you have to put your cellphone down. These times include time with friends or people and dinner time. Playing with your phone if people are around you is not only distracting but rude as well.

7. Drink enough water
Water makes you not only full so that you don’t overeat but it also means that you’re not drinking any other sugary beverage while drinking water.

8. Cook at home
If you cook food yourself you might be surprised how much salt or sugar a dish contains. You might think that salad is healthy but when restaurants add bacon, croutons and sugary dressings it’s another story. If you want to know what’s in your dish try to cook food by yourself.

9. Don’t worry
Focus on the present instead of worrying. Worries are often about things in the future. Just use that time to believe that you will make it through. Get some confidence and the world will look a little bit brighter.
