Hobbies that make you smarter
Hobbies are activities that help to relax the human mind and body. But there are certain hobbies that will make you smarter as well if you enjoy them for a long period, according to Lifespan.
1. Playing an instrument
Playing an instrument during childhood has a greater impact on intelligence, but playing as an adult is better than not playing at all. Focusing on only one instrument isn’t necessary.
2. Puzzles
Puzzles are brain teasers. They make you think and have a direct link to intelligence. If puzzles aren’t your thing, crosswords will do the same job.
3. Collecting things such as coins
Collecting coins, insects, banknotes -- all are fine. They will help you learn more about the world. By examining the collected things your knowledge will broaden.
4. Learning a foreign language
Learning a foreign language not only helps you communicate with others, but can also give you deeper knowledge about other countries and their history. The process of learning a language helps develop and sharpen the brain.
5. Playing Video games
Not all video games have negative impacts on children. Some games, particularly brain training video games, help to enhance hand-eye coordination and the ability to make critical decisions, which are important in life.
6. Reading books
Reading helps us to understand the world, broaden our vocabulary and keep us focused. It also creates an “imaginary bubble,” a place where we can escape from reality.
7. Games that prevent brain fog
Riddles can help reduce the risk of having dementia by 60 percent. Challenging games help to improve the memory. If you’re eating the right food and enjoying challenging games, it can improve cognitive function.
